In the 1940’s as a teenager, he started in business by selling ice cream from a shoulder box along Revere Beach in Massachusetts. He soon thereafter purchased a small ice cream stand and started selling ice cream from a pushcart and then a mobile vending truck. He built his business with determination, and while doing so also helped many people along the way. He was well respected by his suppliers, customers, and employee’s. He was highly regarded as a pioneer in the ice cream industry and was inducted into the Hall of Fame by both the Massachusetts Food Association and the International Association of Ice Cream Vendors which he was a Founder of in 1971. I loved my Dad and admired how he lived his life and conducted business. Sadly, he got sick way too early in life, and his company was eventually sold.
My Dad’s entrepreneurial story and his care for people were the driving motivations for me to start New England Ice Cream Corp.
From the humble beginnings of my basement, I set out to build a company that would incorporate the business and life lessens my Dad taught me. The values instilled in this new company are the same ones my Dad made such a big part of his company, and my everyday life. These are to work hard and smart, treat all people with respect, be a good community member, and take deep care in everything you do.
Today, New England Ice Cream Corp (NEICC) has over 500 full and part time valued team members and is dedicated to properly supplying dependable solutions and customized services to 11,000 + unique retail and food service locations.
In 2010 Forbes magazine took note of what I was working on and said of me, “Manny would be proud”.
I am honored to be Manny’s son and am excited to now bring my sons into this wonderful business.
