The Route Jumper is responsible for route coverage when another driver is not available to cover the route. This position also assists the District Manager/Branch Operations Manager/Supervisor with general duties including ride-alongs, training and route reviews.
The Route Jumper is responsible for route coverage when another driver is not available to cover his/her route.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Cover varying routes on any given day.
· Responsible for efficient, safe and accurate loading of route trucks in the morning.
· Vacation coverage for remote depots (Maine/Vermont)
· Load truck with product and equipment.
· Drive truck and deliver product to customers.
· Stock coolers and freezers in an orderly manner. Follow Plan-o-grams as needed.
· Interact professionally with customers.
· Adhere to all professional appearance requirements (uniform, footwear, etc.).
· Monitor foreign product, the general appearance and the cleanliness of cooler and freezer equipment.
· Effectively communicate order/customer issues to supervisor at time of delivery.
· Collect COD/Payment at time of delivery when required.
· Check vehicle for safety/maintenance issues prior to leaving the depot and throughout the day.
· Unload any returns and ensure the proper information on each return and communicate at time of settlement.
· Work in a variable shift environment, must have schedule flexibility.
· Conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner in all aspects in interaction with customers and employees.
· Additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
· Driving experience required.
Skills/Qualifications
· Must have valid driver’s license.
· Must have a clean driving record.
· Ability to professionally communicate with customers.
· Ability to solve problems.
· Must have schedule flexibility.
Physical Demands
· Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
· Ability to reach above head.

Compensation for this position will be determined based on experience, education, and other relevant factors.
