Position Details

The Jr. Staff Accountant is responsible for managing various entry-level accounting duties with accurate financial analysis for New England Ice Cream. This position makes moderately complex decisions in managing projects. The Jr. Staff Accountant facilitates effective communication among and between appropriate parties/departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • General ledger duties including but not limited to, properly recording journal entries, account analysis, account reconciliation and contributing to the month-end close process.
  • Daily reporting relating to revenue, sales and margin.
  • Assist Accounts Receivable with collection and cash application.
  • Assist Accounts Payable with vouchering invoices and processing payments.
  • Assist with calculating monthly vendor bill back revenue.
  • Assist with preparing documentation for external auditors.
  • Assist with route reconciliation in the back cash office.
  • Various Ad-Hoc projects as assigned by management.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 1-5 years applicable experience.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Accounting, business theory and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong multi-tasking, follow-through and organizational skills with the ability to pay close attention to detail under strict guidelines.
  • Ability to build and facilitate relationships both internally and externally.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Must possess excellent data entry skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must possess strong, professional written and verbal English communication skills.

Physical Demands

  • Routinely required to move about the facility, sit for long periods, bend, reach above head and lift from ground, occasionally up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Environment

  • Full-time, onsite.
  • 40 hours per week.
