Position Details

The New Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and on boarding all potential sales leads and prospects, while developing and maintaining customer relationships and a positive market image for the company.  The New Business Development Manager will be responsible for aggressively pursuing and acquiring new business in an assigned territory. Positions will be based in ME and VT.

 

Skills/Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate excellent sales and interpersonal skills (as evidenced by previous successful sales experience).
  • Must be self-motivated and driven to grow business with targeted new customers.
  • Organized with strong multi-tasking, follow-through and organizational skills handling multiple, simultaneous projects/details under deadline pressures.
  • Ability to work alone or on a team and a willingness to do whatever it takes, including sharing related industry knowledge with company management.
  • Ability to professionally communicate with customers and the NEICC team.
  • Ability to occasionally work weekends and on holidays, and travel overnight as needed.
  • Desired location for the candidate to reside is within assigned territory.
  • Strong professional and proven written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to utilize CRM software daily.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License, a clean driving record, and have current automobile insurance with the requisite limits required by NEICC

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Calls on new independent, chain, foodservice and other potential customers within assigned sales territory.
  • Able to develop a daily plan and execute a selling strategy for designated territory through prospecting, cold calling, networking and referrals and building relationships with decision makers and closing good qualified accounts.
  • Track progress of accounts leads and business activities daily utilizing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform.
  • Responds to and closes accounts that have been called into the office
  • Upon closing an account, BDM completes the necessary paperwork accurately following the standards and guidelines set forth by the company
  • Work collaboratively across all department teams to improve NEICC distribution, while growing NEICC sales in the market
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and processes, including Dress Code, Alcohol and Controlled Substance, and Motor Vehicle Records review and submit a proof of automobile insurance annually.
  • BDM’s are expected to dress in professional business sales attire. Employees must always present a clean, professional appearance. Everyone is expected to be well-groomed and wear clean clothing, free of holes, tears, or other signs of wear
  • Ensure follow-up and response to customer needs in a timely manner.
  • Work with management to implement growth strategies.
  • Other projects as needed.
  • These duties are subject to change and other duties may be required that are not included here.

 

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum two years of consumer products/food business to business sales is required
  • Retail Sales experience preferred
  • Food Service experience is a plus.
  • Proven track record with measurable results
  • Project management experience and ability to handle multiple time-sensitive projects and completing priorities
  • Solid PC abilities and strong skill level with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)

 

Physical Demands

  • Routinely required to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Routinely required to walk, talk, hear, and move around the facility.
  • Routinely required to keyboard and manipulate small and large objects.
  • Requires travel by car and on foot approximately four to five days per week in the field
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.

 

Working Environment

  • Field work as well as internal office work environments when requested for company meetings. Extensive field work with visits to various establishments and location conditions
  • Requires repeated getting in and out of personal vehicle and visiting customer business establishments

 

Travel

  • Must have own vehicle, valid driver’s license, registration, and proof of insurance.
  • Requires travel by car and on foot five days per week
  • Ability to travel within assigned territory and to NEIC headquarters and depots
