Position Details

The Cooler/Freezer Warehouse Order Picker accurately picks orders from a cooler/freezer warehouse in our Norton, MA location. This position operates jacks, lifts and forklifts and stages product to be loaded onto trucks delivering wholesale orders to a route/account base in a geographic territory. The Cooler/Freezer Warehouse Order Picker effectively manages resources, time and freight.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gathers paperwork indicating what items need to be picked for orders.
  • Accurately matches and picks products on order sheets.
  • Effectively, safely and efficiently secures each order and stages it to be picked-up and loaded onto a delivery truck.
  • Moves freight and equipment (e.g. freezers) around warehouse as directed.
  • Manages daily work in a safe manner avoiding personal and property damage.
  • Builds and facilitates relationships, acting professionally and efficiently. Maintains good relationships with customers, sales teams, delivery, and route sales people.
  • Investigates and troubleshoots any issues with product, picking, freight and/or trucks. Reports issues and outcomes to supervisor/manager.
  • Makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Works with teammates to increase efficiency in picking.
  • Monitors products; cleans warehouse.
  • Stays informed; keeps current on knowledge of all products; including new product offerings and product changes.
  • Assists other pickers and employees as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 – 3 years relevant warehouse and order picking experience.
  • 1 – 3 years distribution experience preferred.
  • Cooler/Freezer order picking experience preferred.
  • Experience operating a forklift and/or electric pallet jack.
  • Military experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment, including, but not limited to, reach trucks, electric pallet jacks, forklifts and hand-trucks.
  • Ability to use handheld computer technology.
  • Strong professional and proven written, verbal and interpersonal English communication skills. Must be able to read English. Bi-Lingual a plus.
  • Must be organized and accurate.
  • Ability to assess whether an order is complete by looking at numerous pallets. Ability to meet picking accuracy and service schedules.
  • Must have strong multi-tasking and follow-through skills. Must be able to follow multiple directions.
  • Proven ability to accurately meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must work well unsupervised and be self-motivated.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to repetitively lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to see, hear and talk. Vision requirements include: close, distance, color and peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
  • Constantly required to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, bend, reach above head and lift from ground.
  • Frequently required to climb or balance, push, steer, and manipulate small and large objects.
  • Ability to repetitively push and pull 4-wheeled carts on an hourly basis.
  • Occasionally required to operate machinery.

Work Environment

  • Work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Exposure to extreme cold (negative 20°) in a freezer environment.
  • Extensive and heavy warehouse environment.
  • Exposure to icy floor conditions.
  • Exposure to loud noises.
